Age - from Surplus to Deficit!

Just in case you are confuse or unaware what surplus and deficit means (it's accounting terms *pushes thick framed glasses like a boring accountant*), scroll all the way down.
In short, surplus is when there is extra. Deficit, on the other hand, means shortage. Not good in the eye of the finance people, but good in the eye of vanity-heals's blogger!

Yes that's me.

I remembered how I always look 2 years (otherwise, more) older than my usual age. I get into clubs when I was 14 (legally, 16), get into adult clubs when and watched rated R movies when I was 18 (legally, 21). I hardly get my IC checked when I buy alcohol or ciggies.

Or perhaps I was so calm it didn't disclose the fact I was a juvenile.

***Not a good example I've led. Minors should not attempt the above things I've done. Not fun anyway.***

Point is, I used to look much older till I was about.. 23? That was when I start getting age deficit, so to say, people are starting to claim I look younger. First they correctly guessed my age. But as I grow older, they start to get it wrong. Averagely, I get compliments that I look at least 2 years younger.

The importance of skincare - I cannot stress enough how important is that.

Well I guess there are a few things that could make you look youthful:

1) Skincare, skincare, skincare!!!

2) Your behaviour. Maintain a light heart and a jovial personality. Smile even when you don't feel like it, for it takes more muscle to frown. And worse, it leaves you wrinkle!

3) Dressing. Need I elaborate more? You dress old, you look old lah!

4) Makeup. The heavier is your makeup, the older you'll look.

5) Weight. This one damn sad. But yes, having excessive weight makes one look old. Of course, being severely underweight to the extend that makes one look like a dried prune - is even worse.

What I'm saying is, always find out your BMI and try to have your weight scaled towards the lighter side. (Gentle reminder, pls lose weight healthily ok!)

For me, I'm on the heavier side for sure. In fact I'm close to overweight already. So I'm trying to shed some pounds (FOREVER). Good enough, I've lost close to 4kgs since my new job.

People had been telling me I'm complacent because I'm still young. I beg to differ. It's exactly because I keep reminding myself that I'm not young, that pushes me to work towards status quo. The amount of time spent on taking care of my skin is twice as long as I take my bath. Everyday. Insane.

I'm 28 this year. 29 in the Chinese calculation and no, I'm not young. I'm not afraid of saying it. In fact, I'm proud to disclose my age because I'm aging gracefully.

Accept the fact. Face yourself. Aging can be a beautiful thing if it grows with your soul.

xoxo!

Sailor moon makeup by Michelle Phan

This caught my attention because I was a die-heart but grew out of it Sailor Moon fan. Well I still had their cards with me now, which I believe some of it would've turned to be valuable collectibles?

Cool huh? Undeniably she's good. But the close-ups when she did her eye was kinda freaky.

So what do you think?

Belated post on Kymmy's

And so these were all taken on bestie's advance birthday celebration at Ma Maison. As much as she doesn't wish to grow old but still, HAPPY QUARTER-CENTURY-YEAR-OLD BIRTHDAY! (Albeit I'm 4 days late la. Her bd's on the 21st)

Curled the tail of my hair.

YYYYY

Mentally unsound as usual, I requested to take a picture of Kym and Boon coming down the escalator. Hell knows why I insisted. =_=" Now that I think back, there were so many people staring at me. Must have thought I was siao. But I guess I was just naturally high consider we were out to celebrate Kym's bd. I'm never too sane anyway.

This was totally candid. And my fave too because I snapped Boon when he looked so poised!! P.S. That's shawl's mine la. I purposely made him wear that. Abit gayish but I tell you it's totally stylish if it's in other countries k! I swear I'll make him wear this cap (for the fun of it) if I see any. Nothing wrong with being metrosexual. Like I said, we girls need some eye candy too.

Me: "People got Bae Yong Joon, we got Bae Yong Boon!!"

Digress: Dude, pls pls plsssssss stick to this fashion template until I give you further notice k! *pushes thick framed glasses* You're doing a good job on the hair thou! The footwear too! Do heed my advice and dump the old generation hideous crocs to other planets far far faaar from earth, if possible.

(Then again, the newer ones looked not bad. They must have heard our complaints!)

Poor thing usually gets so stressed up with what to wear when he's meeting me because of his fear of being skinned. Smart enough, he'll wear those apparels I've chosen and match for him to keep himself alive.

*proud of myself* I managed to help someone without fashion sense to one who is at least sensitive on what looked good on himself and what not!! Elated.

By the way.. have you thought of changing your specs too? HAHAHAHAHA. Ok I'm joking. I'm nice.

Made our way to....

Able to guess where we went?

I'm sure you figured that out.

3 grown-ups getting unrealistically stressed up over Jinga. Stupid like fuck. Lol.

Sidenote: This picture looked like I p'shpd-smoothed my back and arm which obviously I didn't lah. Get natural tight, smooth and glowing skin by drinking protein for a start! So, that's a little tip for you vainpots out there! I personally do not advice collagen for women below 30 years old. Save the heavier dosed ones for our later years.

This one damn classic.

She and me, us, we were both suppose to be destressing and taking a breather from all the exam woes, but looked what happened?! I swear we aged at least 10 years overnight. ROFL.

Loser kenna forfeit. Nb I lost twice. Played until perspire and hair all messy, end up I lost. TWICE somemore. I LOST! I MTFK LOST. *random tiu-ing* Hahahahaha.

Reading the forfeit I picked from the Jinga bars.

The final straw - sinister zombie game that got Kym and I surrendering from the urge of winning. I thereby conclude that guys got better memory than girls in general. D:

YYYYY

P.S. I had great Saturday night reminiscing the past and meeting the soulmate and her the other half! I'm so glad we clicked. Did we? Hahahaha.

P.P.S. I watched "My sister's keeper". The 2nd movie I cried madass. Topped my list was Titanic eons back.

P.P.P.S. Bring at least 2 packets of tissue, one for you, one for your companion if you are going to watch My sister's keeper.

P.P.P.P.S. I wanted to watch "Halloween 2" or "Jennifer's body" initially. o_O

Hair color

Come to think of it, I had quite a few hair colors before..

Maroon
Hazel brown
Copper orange
Fire red
Blonde
Golden brown
Dark purple (which turned out extremely black but I lurvvve it)
Ash brown
Ash green

Afterwhich I had the color black for.. the past 3 years? Black's nice. I like black, but..

It's getting quite boring lah.

Looking at ash green yet again. Else, this? Nice not?

I'm thinking, either it's along this color range, something still relatively dark but with a bit of color. Or not i'll stick with black.

Workshop

Seriously overdue pictures from our workshop conducted.. on early August? I later realised that we had an overwhelming amount of photos taken. Credits to Annie and Reona.

Having 2 mad women snapping pictures and at least another 3 pairs of eyes looking at you while you are doing the makeup appeared quite frivolous. (I imagined writing a board with the letters "PLS DO NOT FEED HER" and that there were tourist and people trying desperately to throw bananas at me) Thou I don't appear so because I'm running late. No time to care so much.

"B" healthy!

Via Wikipeadia

The B vitamins are eight water-soluble vitamins that play important roles in cell metabolism. Historically, the B vitamins were once thought to be a single vitamin, referred to as vitamin B (much as people refer to vitamin C or vitamin D). Later research showed that they are chemically distinct vitamins that often coexist in the same foods. Supplements containing all eight are generally referred to as a vitamin B complex. Individual B vitamin supplements are referred to by the specific name of each vitamin (e.g. B1, B2, B3 etc ).

The B-complex vitamins are actually a group of eight vitamins, which include:
thiamine (B1)
riboflavin (B2)
niacin (B3)
pantothenic acid (B5)
pyridoxine (B6)
cyanocobalamin (B12)
folic acid
biotin

These vitamins are essential for:
  • The breakdown of carbohydrates into glucose (this provides energy for the body)
  • The breakdown of fats and proteins (which aids the normal functioning of the nervous system)
  • Muscle tone in the stomach and intestinal tract
  • Skin
  • Hair
  • Eyes
  • Mouth
  • Liver

==================================

What I'm taking:

Nutrilite's Natural B complex
Photobucket

Naturally derived from cultured, deactivated yeast

One tablet provides 100% or more of the US RDI of all 7 B vitamins - B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, folic acid, and B12; plus inositol and PABA (para-amino-benzoic-acid), that all adult men and women need.

Water-soluble B-complex vitamins assist in the release of energy from fats, carbohydrates and proteins, to meet added energy needs brought on by stressful living.

Helps promote healthy skin, nails, hair and eyes.

Essential for the development of red blood cells as well as the normal functioning of the nervous system.

Alcohol, smoking, caffeine, dieting and the use of birth control pills can deplete the body of B-vitamins.

================================

A success story I'd like to share with you guys. My dad had been a victim of some vicious insomnia for the past 15 (or so) years and the fact that he has less than 4 hours of very ill-quality sleep was ultimately, at the expense of his health.

He often experience headache, lost of concentration, bad breath, lost of appetite and many more which you and I could possibly imagine.

Even worst, he had short-term memory loss. He was telling me one day he stood in the middle of the somewhere where he:

1) forgotten why he ended up there,

2) didn't know where he was,

3) couldn't remember the way home,

4) couldn't remember how to use his mobile phone.

Apparently he was somewhere near my block and was heading to the market to get some vegetables. Then that's it, he suddenly couldn't remember a thing until some 10 minutes later where he regained his memory.

That caused my dad to suffer some mild depression. As a victim of depression myself, I could see the symptoms fairly well and thus, concluded that dad was upset with him losing his touch for things.

It appears that he simply cannot get to sleep and it was indeed a very worrying scene for his daughter, whom relies him so much as the pillar of her life.

I was helpless. Like how I was when my hormone changed and nothing seemed to help. I was witnessing dad's sickness without any prominent solution.

Very fortunately, I came contact with a friend whom subsquently introduced me to Nutrilite. He was the same friend whom actually showed me the wellness of Artistry. If Artistry could work for me, why not take a shot in the supplements he mentioned that sounded so much of a wonder?

(Note that I was a very stubborn person who does not believe in supplements. I'd rather take fruits and vegetable. But well, all of us we know, it-is-just-not-enough)

I told them about dad's nasty case and they recommanded him to take B-complex and Calcium-Magnesium. I bought it. Dad tried it.

Initially it didn't worked. I ask him to persist. He did as told.

When the supplements starts regulating, he was still have very short naps. About 2 hours max. But he woke up feeling less lethargic he said. He wasn't having subconscious sleeps anymore. He had a short but good, full 2 hours rest.

Through and fro, I calculated he had a total of 5 naps in that day itself. That's about 10 hours if you put it. Albeit the rest was done staggardly and not a full 10 hours, dad felt more and more relaxed because of the amount of rest he was getting.

And now, he's on the way to recovery and insomnia-less soon. I'm a happy girl.

In short, that was how I started believing in supplements. None other but those I'm consuming now. Not that others aren't good. I'm in no position to comment because I've yet tried. But why should I when I found one that truly works for me? And of course, I did my homework before trusting any supplements to be allow inside my mouth.

Today, dad is much healthier and taking the supplements at his very own willingness. Every day without fail. Can even remind me that his Bio-C is finishing. Hah.

Me? I was telling my friends, "I can leave the house without my mobile, but alas, not without my supplements!"

^_____^

So, "B" healthy my dear. Health is wealth.

Makeups

Fooling around with my eyeshadows again. Many lovelies of mine complain that they can never master the skill for smoky eyes. On the contrary, I find it very very easy to do one. Frankly I become so used to smoky eyes I perpetually did one for all my models be it day or night events.

And that is not good. Smoky eyes might look tad too drama-mama for a day occasion. I HAVE TO hold back my temptation of putting such heavy eye colors for day.

Middle of eyelid: Silver + pearl eyedust
Inner and outer corner of eyelid: Shimmery brown plus dark brown
Eyelid fold (or whatever you call it): Charcoal brown
Eyeliner: Gel, brown
Under eye, outer corner: Charcoal brown
Under eye, inner coner: Pearl eyedust

Tsk. See? NO color. Despite it was rather heavy already. Another reason why I liked applying such heavy colors is because it simply gets "eaten up" when the camera flash is on and the pictures usually turn out colorless otherwise, very subtle.

Still no color. #$%ctb&*%wtf;//!?

(Note: I was playing with eye colors and blushers. No foundation applied.)

'neeways, the hungry ghost festival is coming. So be careful my dear. Don't anger the "good buddies".

Else sister Sadako (with very chio falsies) might visit you in the midst of your sleep to say hi!!!

Photobucket
Scare ya, didn't I? :P

Look at the blurry camera and its lens. Does it reminds you of a well? That's where Sadako lives! In a well!

K lah, a chio one to calm you down. Albeit it looked kinda frivolous just with one side of the eye and half of the face done. I think the result looked mamasan-ish. No? Cover the left side and look at the right, I prolly seem like I'm in my late 30's.. Maybe even 40's. I proclaim hor, I is 24, not 42.

Photobucket

It's photoshopped lah hello. I not so chio. Liiiiittle beeet chio maybe. (photoshop pictures to chioster also must have some basic natural default born with chio features one k! Else no matter how you edit also bo yong) Didn't touch the eyes thou'.

(P.S. I cannot say I'm ugly. Wait my parents very sad. Neither of you should think you are ugly too. Else wait your parents also very sad.)

Nah nah nah. All these not photoshopped one. Au naturale one ok!

Before and after

Applause for myself first - I THINK I AM FREAKING BRAVE TO DO THIS.

While most of you had past experience (maybe even ongoing) on skin problems, I too had my fair share of it. In fact, I had very very huge share of it.

Was plagued by some serious acne and scarring problem during late last year on the T-zone. Not that I didn't have any before, but I'd say what I encountered last year made me felt really helpless because nothing seem to work for me. NOTHING.AT.ALL.

I'm gonna show you how bad it looked. (despite I had even worse ones which I didn't even bother to snap pictures of) Ready?

Boo!

Photobucket

(and this was taken in the process of healing. imagine worst ones)

I started investing in my new skincare products (plus supplements) and isolated my precious makeups. :((( Tried anti-biotics prescribed by the docs but it didn't help at all. I ended up with endless puking and seriously, it never fails to wreak my day.

And this is how it looks these days. Nothing too hoo-hah but it's some realistic improvements. Something which I've seen for myself. Well I'm still have abit of breakouts now and then but at least I know of a product that actually heals and slays off those annoying acne!!

Photobucket

P.S. Don't even think of concealing the area when you are experiencing severe outbreaks like those show in my first pic. It'll only worsen the condition. Not only it clogs pores and deprives the skin from breathing, when removing the makeup it causes unnecessary contacts and agitation to the outbreaks too.

Don't say I never remind you hor...

Still alive!

Yeah yeah yeah. Jinxed is back in da house! Am in office now, colleagues seems happy seeing me waving "hi" to me when I seated on my cubicle.

Like princess lidat. Lol. I named myself "incredible hot" because my temperature wentt up to a good 39.3 degrees when the previous day my reading showed my fever officially subsided.

And being socially responsible means - I'm wearing the mask now, looking frantically hilarious here in the office. Because cough is still stuck with me, refusing to leave.

Neeways, pictures from M's beauty experience~

JJ's artsy fartsy shot. Quite nice. Reminds me of xmas thou'.

Ok. Abrupt end with my self-shot feet. Funny seeing how tiny they are! I'm actually a size 8/9 fyi.
