Sunday

Was getting quite bored the moment I hit my books, so decided to go round snapping pics of my barang barang.

That's Gucci Envy x 2, Gucci Envy me, Escada dunno what, Lancome Benghal, Issey Miyaki x 2 where most of the time, I'm using the first and the last only. Rest I'll use as room spray. :P

Not forgetting my Kenzo one in office which totals up to 8 bottles of perfumes for a non-perfume fan. Non perfume lover owns 8 bottles already. What's more for one who loves scents? Ridiculous we women can get at times...

Tips tips tips!

Silica gel: Never discard when you find them inside your shoe box! These thingies are used to prevent moisture so that your shoes wouldn't get mouldy therefore it is good to dump them inside areas like the drawers or shelves or cupboards (f*ck, I was actually having trouble spelling "car-bert")

They are free and doesn't takes up much of your space, so why not?

Random bo liao-ness.

Bling-blings! I will probably perish if the world's without bling-blings. A girl will never be completed without them. Look at diamonds, look at crystals.

*sings* I can't live, if living is without you~

Can never bear to use them. Ended up asking Ann dear to get me some more from Thailand.

Glitters and shimmers

Dusting powder (for body) which I used it for... less than 3 times? Looks nice but hell of a hassle to use.

Gotta run! Dinner. Tarah~!

Beauty tips (part 2)

Beauty tips part 1 here

  1. Get into the habit of wearing rubber gloves when you do any cleaning around the house. This will help you hands stay younger looking. Cleaning agents can be extremely harsh on both nails and hands.

  2. Glycolic Peels are best to be scheduled in the fall or winter, as you need to stay out of the sun after having them done.

  3. If you get a deep, dark or bright paint job on you nails, consider buying a bottle of the polish to take home - these shades chip more often and more noticeably. (Brighter and darker color chips easily. That would means, only the nude color stays. hmmm)

  4. If you want thick eye lashes without clumps, start with a white or translucent primer. One coat of the primer will help the mascara go on smoothly. (Provided you coat your mascara correctly too. Else primer or not, still clumps)

  5. If you want to be sure that your foundation, blush, or pressed powder is not clogging your pores, and causing you to break out make sure it is oil-free. If the label states: Non-comedogenic or oil free, it is safe to use. Otherwise, toss it! (I said this before! Mark this tip ladies and gentlemen, important)

  6. If your skin is dry and flakey, do not use a toner that has alcohol in it. Alcohol is famous for drying out skin. You can just skip the toner all together ~ just be sure to apply a moisturizer that contains sunscreen. (For alcohol free toner, try this brand call "Simple". Credit goes to Miss Phelp)

  7. It's beauty that captures your attention; personality which captures your heart.

  8. Lipsticks are made of 95% wax, and they will go rancid after 3 years. Lip gloss is a better bet, as long as the safety seal is intact and the tube is clear it is most likely safe to use.

  9. Many African-American women have skin that is slightly darker on the forehead than on the rest of the face. Don’t overcompensate by adding extra layers of makeup elsewhere - use two different shades, and be sure to blend well with your clean fingers.

  10. Many lipsticks contain lead as an ingredient. The average woman consumes one stick of lipstick a year. Be sure that your lipstick is lead-free.

  11. NEVER dab toothpaste on a zit! The truth is that yes, toothpaste is drying - but it can also be irritating, and fluoride and tartar-control ingredients have actually been proven to make pimples worse. To speed the healing of a pimple, crush an aspirin, and blend it with water to make a paste. Aspirin contains a high concentration of salicylic acid, the same beta hydroxyl acid that’s in countless blemish products. (Just be sure to dilute it with water to avoid irritation, and to skip the trick altogether if you’re allergic to aspirin.) (I AM SO GOING TO TRY THIS)

  12. No matter how big the mustache, or how thick the eyebrows, never raise a razor to your face. (I shave my brows, don't fancy any disasters thou)

  13. Reapply topcoat every other day to keep nail polish from chipping.

  14. Shoulder length hair is usually flattering to any woman.

  15. Test foundation on your jaw line - not your hand to find the perfect match.

  16. The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart. ~Hellen Keller ~

Tomorrow

Much as I was telling Miss Phelp I should most probably stay awake for the night to pray for Saturday's weather to be sunny so we can go for our much longed, tanning and swimming and yada yada yada.

Right, I don't like getting myself char-grilled, but I HAD TO even out my awful racer back tan-line caused by jogging at ECP with kor kor sometime back.

And was coincided with the following song shortly which to-tally describes my feelings. (why this few days so many coincidence ah? I bet theeupthere answered my prayer.)

(Or prolly thoudownthere, since it's lunar's ghost month)

The sun'll come out, tomorrow,
Bet your bottom dollar, that tomorrow,
There'll be sun,
Just thinkin' about, tomorrow,
Clears away the cobwebs and the sorrow, till' there's none,
When I'm stuck with a day, that's grey and lonely,
I just stick out my chin, and grin, and say,
Oh, the sun'll come out tomorrow,
So you gotta' hang on till' tomorrow,
Come what may.

Tomorrow tomorrow, I love you tomorrow,
Your'e only a day away,

The sun'll come out, tomorrow,
Bet your bottom dollar, that tomorrow,
There'll be sun,
Just thinkin' about, tomorrow,
Clears away the cobwebs and the sorrow, till' there's none,
When I'm stuck with a day, that's grey and lonely,I just stick out my chin, and grin, and say,
Oh, the sun'll come out tomorrow,
So you gotta' hang on till' tomorrow,
Come what may.

Tomorrow tomorrow, I love you tomorrow,
Your'e always a day away,

Tomorrow tomorrow, I love you tomorrow,
Your'e only a day away,

The sun'll come out, tomorrow,
Bet your bottom dollar, that tomorrow,

There'll be sun,
Just thinkin' about, tomorrow,
Clears away the cobwebs and the sorrow, till' there's none,
When I'm stuck with a day, that's grey and lonely,
I just stick out my chin, and grin, and say,
Oh, the sun'll come out tomorrow,
So you gotta' hang on till' tomorrow,
Come what may.

Tomorrow tomorrow, I love you tomorrow,
Your'e always a day away,

Tomorrow tomorrow, I love you tomorrow,
Your'e only a day away, (x10)

*Sings* Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love you, tomorrow~~~

Fulfilling Saturday

As if lessons on Fridays ain't enough, tutorials are held on Saturdays. And the timing HAD TO be so odd. Spoilsport...

Thankfully I had my plans laid to ensure I make full use of the remaining 1/3 of my very precious Saturday.

It was still drizzling (and very cold too!) when I reached Miss Phelps place, so swimming is definitely out. Not that I'm afraid of getting wet, duh. It's the chilled pool I detest.

Steam room getting ready while we hit the warm jacuzzi.

View of Jacuzzi pool. Wonder why would watching a rushing waterfall actually calms people down on the contrary?

Not forgetting to do some face mask while I'm inside the steam room! Post effect damn good I tell you.

Magazines stashed underneath her bed. Friend, staring at those bootylicious figures won't do us any good. We have to make more workout trips to shed those pounds.

Beauty tips part 2 coming up next. Stay tuned!

Garlic chilli back, please

Someone sent this to Stomp which surprises me how many people actually shared the same sentiments as I did - WHAT HAPPENED TO MAC'S GARLIC CHILLI?

So this was how it went: It may seem like a trivial matter but I just like to highlight how McDonald's seem to be replying with double standard reasons to their discontinuation of their chilli sauces ( garlic & sweet chilli).

I received a reply which was seemingly computer generated:

"Thank you for your feedback.

At McDonald's, we are committed to providing quality food choices and meeting customers' changing needs.

We have a wide range of sauces to complement our menu items and the current chilli sauce provided is in response to meeting our customers' changing tastes.

We thank you for your feedback.

This will be valuable to us as we continually look to improving the dining experience for our customers.

Looking forward to serving you soon!"

Yours sincerely,

Thank goodness I have the habit of asking extra chilli sauce and stash few packets in my fridge. Wonder if anyone would actually buy chilli sauce on eBay. So that I can earn some extra incomes. =X

Beauty tips (part 1)

Some interesting stuffs I found from Google's "Tip of the day" Gadget. You can ignore some of those tips to be frank....
  1. Comb the tangles out of your hair before you get it wet. Your hair will wash easily and the tangles will not worsen.

  2. "Mineral powder makeup" sounds really pristine and does live up to its name. It has no talc, no chemicals, no fillers and no dyes.

  3. Apply a teaspoon of sunscreen to your face when you are outside on hot summer days. This will protect your skin from the harsh burning rays of the sun. (Duh.. isn't that equivalent to applying sunblock whenever you step outta the house?)

  4. Applying foundation with a latex sponge makes it easy to see exactly how much you are putting on and aids in blending. Dampen it first, and you end up with slightly more sheer coverage. (I'll still prefer using the fingers cuz 1) the temperature actually allows you to blend easier, 2) using sponge absorbs more of your liquid foundation hence finishes faster)

  5. Bangs are universally flattering - unless you have cowlicks or tight curls.

  6. Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart. ~ Kahlil Gibran~' (Aiya, mark my words better - vanity heals. It really does)

  7. Below is a wonderful poem, written by Audrey Hepburn when she was asked to share her "beauty tips." It was read at her funeral years later.

For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair, let a child run their fingers through it once a day.
For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.
People, even more than things have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone.
Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms.
As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands; one for helping yourself, and the other for helping others.

  8. Bobbi Brown, a leading makeup artist once declared that there is a shade of RED lipstick for everyone!

  9. Body oils have been in use even before the advent of any body care creams or lotions. Body oil when massaged on body does wonders for skin! One of the most striking features about oils is that they are free from any chemical, and are completely herbal.

  10. Bronzer is for the bones, and not the entire face. Focus on the cheek bones, the bones above the temples, the bridge of the nose, and the chin for a natural looking tan.

  11. Compliment your beauty by wearing natural stone jewelry! Our favorites are these one of a kind handmade creations at http://www.savvygirlcompany.com/

  12. Curl your lashes AFTER you apply mascara!!! You will need to give the mascara 5 minutes to dry after applying, then curl. This blend will help your mascara stay put longer. (Ok, I do that BEFORE and AFTER I apply my mascara)

  13. Dark skin color and formation of age spots is caused by buildup of melanin in the skin. Skin gets dark by exposure to sun, which increases the production of melanin. Skin gets prone to hyper pigmentation over the time. In this condition Irregular dark spots come out to the skin of face arms, back, leg and hands, which is caused by increased melanin. Be sure to wear a hat & apply sunscreen when you are outside for extended lengths of time to lessen dark spots. (Again, duh..... I was hoping for a better solution)

  14. Flat Irons can help your hair achieve that smooth, sleek look! They are easy to use; just make sure that you practice before a big date! Also, keeping the Flat Iron clean is an absolute must! (Does that mean we shouldn't keep our curling rods clean?)

  15. For a truly natural look, blend, blend, blend your makeup!!! (I say: For a truly natural look, don't put any makeup at all)

Mundane

Well well. Let's see what do we have here for updates.

Nothing but words. For the time being. Since the photos are still seated comfortable in my home's folder and not uploaded as yet. Last weekend was too enjoyable and too comfortable for me to do anything but laze around and hide in my blanket. That pretty much explains my lack of enthusiasm in blogging.

Boy I haven't had such great weekend since eons back.

Updates soon eh? Meanwhile just endure with the texts first.

So, back to today. It's a case of "all good things comes to an end" this week. People come people go. As much as I hate parting, I anticipate new ones too. My many well wishes for those who ventured out of the comfort zone to their new endeavours. Hoping I'll soar my heights too, someday.

Love,
Me

P.S I got homework to do. And I've gotta submit em' tomorrow.
P.P.S I haven't touched any of those 7 or 8 questions yet. Well done.

Bronze or 4th for Li Jia Wei?

Am watching the match between Wang Nan and Guo Yue now.

Wang Nan's leading with a score of 3 - 2 which brings the 2 players to their 6th round.

Li Jia Wei had lost her match to Zhang Yi Ning (expected) earlier on which left the only medal - bronze, for her to work on.

You see, now my concern is Guo Yue (world rank #2) is actually losing to Wang Nan, who ranks 5th in the list.

Guo Yue's supposed to be stronger than Wang Nan. But from the way they played, it kinda seems that Guo Yue is "giving in" to Wang Nan, losing by merely 5 points.

(Ok, the match's completed. Wang advances to the finals. My guess was right)

Could it be one of China's strategy again?

Theoretically the stake for winning 3rd place is higher if our very own Li Jia Wei were to compete against Wang Nan.

But if Wang advances it'd means Guo, the supposedly stronger one - competes with Li.

Thus, their (China's) chances of securing the bronze medal is higher. Win liao lor lidat, China get to have all top three for themselves.

I'm gonna guess 1st to Zhang Yi Ning, 2nd to Wang Nan, and 3rd of course -- goes to Guo Yue.

But I'm crossing my fingers. Heart still goes to our very own Li Jia Wei nevertheless.

Sigh... if only Feng Tian Wei doesn't competes Zhang Yi Ning so soon and gets eliminated from the semi final. Else I think she stands a higher chance of securing our bronze.

Tried & Tested - Neutrogena Fine Fairness Peel Mask

Meetup with the farm peeps went awfully well. Planned blading but yi ma HAD TO reach me today. TMD. Got some novels and Dear Boys part 28, sang frivolously, joke, drove, ate prata, get fat and all.

Pwee were caught in the middle of this event held at Watsons Ngee Ann City while J and I laughed at her being caught in the sudden limelight.

Next thing I knew, I was pulled in for the event. =_______________=

K went into some SERIOUS hiding seeing us sat there. Die die refuse to show up.

Very amazing product Neutrogena Fine Fairness Peel Mask is. Tested and proven by yours truly ok! See? Free sample set for taking part in the event.

So this is how it works,

1) this skin analyzer gadget was used to check the fairness of your skin. The higher the figure, the fairer you are. The lower the figure indicated, means you are tan.

For instance, Pwee is fairer and scored 62, I'm generally tanner and the machine indicated 60. Make sense eh?

2) There was this lady whom then applied a small amount of the area show below.

3) 5 minutes later, the gel was rubbed off, more like an exfoliating step if you ask me. And cleaned with water.

4) Area was analyzed again. And MY GOODNESS, it showed 65. Difference of 5 points!

Even the lady exclaimed "That's alot....."

(Only if they have it in shower series. I'll be more than glad to get it. Good leh. Can whiten your complexion in 5 minutes)

That makes my result the most obvious. But no prize for winning lah.

Peifen damn pretty in real lah!!! So jealous!!!! And Jia Hui!!!! Complexion is flawless hao bu hao? Though there are makeup, but imperfections could still be seen closed up one mah, how come I don't get to see any of their small faces huh?

I'll be happier if Cruz Teng was there. Muahahaha. Mini fan I am. Morning don't listen to 就是万人谜 will die that type.

I know I very cheena. Enough.

Jade Seah scolds vulgarity during Olympic update?

I must admit, it was really awkward listening to Jade Seah updating the Olympic news on its own already. Sounds like some kids channel's host.

She's got good flair command of English though, but definitely not professional enough for a presenter. Somemore for Olympic news...

My own encounter was hearing her said "Maybe Americans LAH" during one of the updates last week. Got news anchor say singlish one meh?

And to my surprise, I read from blogs that she even said FUCK.

Prolly its some rumours lah. Give her the benefit of doubts nevertheless.

The rumours was further spread I think. Cuz I read the headlines of some mandarin papers criticising her saying the four letter word.

Tsk tsk tsk, should have gotten a better presenter.

Singapore has finally enter Olympic finals

Team Singapore has managed to make their way to the finals for the Women Table-tennis! Kudos!!! Hip hip Hooray!!!!!!

Is The Joker a template for plastic surgeries?

I'm sure every one remembers the late Heath Ledger and his vivacious character in The Dark Knight as the Joker right?

The one who acted in Brokeback mountain.

Reported he was too engrossed in the role of Joker which caused him his depression and overdosed of drugs, which was later associated to Mary-Kate Olsen as the cause blah blah blah.

Wait, is this Marilyn Mason or I'm just getting confused?

Such a pity. The role led him to his death. He's really quite cute you know? With all those blonde ringlets and aussie boy looking.

In fact, I don't even think the director should have casted him for that role. Paint untill lidat, can't even see the features right? So wasted. Waste of makeups too.

Might as well they find her. Let's do a check on the compitability with the joker's key features.

Hollow eyes?
Seemingly sharp nose?
Humongeous mouth?

http://awfulplasticsurgery.com/

See? No need makeup, just have to paint her face white. I think the sequeal can focus on The Jokeress instead, since the (original) Joker has diedded.

The Sun and The Moon

Was in town last week for my quick grabs and settled down in Sun with Moon for some early dinner. Ambience was awesome-ly chill and relaxing. Price was reasonable for its quality too. Only if their service charge of 10% could be waived off, I swear I'll be the happiest person that day.

(Cuz' their service sucks big time, duh)

Please don't ask me what I had, the only names I can ever think of for Japanese cusine are Sushi and Wasabi. Ok, there is Sashimi and Teriyaki. That's all. Some beef rice that served quite identical to the Korean's bimbimpab (or how it is spelt) anyway. BUT IT'S DAMN TASTY CAN?

If you ask me, I'm definitely going back there. Pray hard I don't have to swing my flabby arms bazillion times again to ask for the waiter.

Strawberry shortcake. I didn't order this. Am on DIET. You hear me? D-I-E-T.

I ate the strawberry though...

Borned imperfect = Don't even think of representing the country

Original article: China embraces Western values: Image is everything. Girl lip-synchs song sung by another in Olympic opening ceremonies

Lin Miaoke, a nine-year-old Chinese girl who lip-synched “Ode to the Motherland” at the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics.

From the International Herald Tribune:
Girl lip-synched another’s performance at Olympic opening

By Jim Yardley
Beijing: Pigtailed and smiling, Lin Miaoke, age 9, stood in a red dress and white shoes during the Olympic opening ceremony last Friday and performed “Ode to the Motherland” in what would become one of the evening’s most indelible images: a lone child, fireworks blazing overhead, singing a patriotic ballad before an estimated one billion viewers.

Except that she was not really singing.

When Miaoke opened her mouth to sing, the voice that was actually heard was a recording of Peiyi.

It was unclear whether Miaoke knew she was being dubbed.

The reason was for the national interest,” Chen Qigang, general music designer of the opening ceremony, explained during a Sunday radio interview. “The child on camera should be flawless in image, internal feeling and expression.”

Dubbing music during large outdoor performances has been known to happen. At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, the great tenor Luciano Pavarotti, then 71, lip-synched an aria because of his age and the cold. But the recording was still his voice, as is usually the case when performers resort to lip-synching.

After the performance Friday, Zhang appeared at a news conference with Chinese reporters and praised Miaoke. “She’s very cute and sings quite well, too,” he said.

Asked to name which section of the show he found most satisfying, he first mentioned Miaoke.
“I was moved every time we did a rehearsal of this, from the bottom of my heart,” he said, according to a transcript of the news conference.

Miaoke’s song was considered critical because it coincided with the arrival of the national flag inside the massive National Stadium, also known as the Bird’s Nest. In his radio interview, Chen said that an unnamed member of the ruling Communist Party’s powerful Politburo attended one of the final rehearsals, along with other officials, and demanded that Miaoke’s voice “must change.”

By Tuesday, the Chinese media had pounced on the story, instigating a national conversation that government censors were quickly trying to mute by stripping away many, but not all, of the comments posted online. The outrage was especially heated over the cold calculation used to choose between the girls.

“Please save the last bit of trueness in our children,” wrote one person with an online name of Weirderhua. “They think Yang Peiyi’s smile is not cute enough? What we need is truth, not some fake loveliness!”

Another person added: “Children are innocent. Don’t contaminate their minds!”

Just not her face: Photos posted online showed a happy girl with imperfect teeth, hardly an uncommon problem in China. “Everyone should understand this in this way,” Chen said. “This is in the national interest. It is the image of our national music, national culture, especially during the entrance of our national flag. This is an extremely important, extremely serious matter.”
He added: “I think it is fair to both Lin Miaoke and Yang Peiyi.”

On Monday, Peiyi appeared on China Central Television, the state network. “I’m O.K. with it,” she told her interviewer, even performing a song. “My voice was used in the performance. I think that’s enough.”

Miaoke’s father, a newspaper photographer, was worried about how she would take the news. Since age 6, Miaoke has worked in television advertisements, even appearing with the country’s hurdling champion, Liu Xiang. Her appearance in the opening ceremony made her an instant celebrity in China, and her image was reproduced around the world.

Huang Yuanxi contributed research.

-------------------------------------------------

Another article reads: A pretty girl who won national fame after singing at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games was only miming. Wearing a red dress and pigtails, Lin Miaoke charmed a worldwide audience with a rendition of “Ode to the Motherland”.

But the singer was Yang Peiyi (shown left), who was not allowed to appear because she is not as “flawless” as nine-year-old Lin.

The show’s musical director said Lin was used because it was in the best interests of the country. They faced a dilemma because although Lin was prettier, seven-year-old Yang had the better voice, Mr Chen said.

“After several tests, we decided to put Lin Miaoke on the live picture, while using Yang Peiyi’s voice,” he told the radio station.

“The reason for this is that we must put our country’s interest first,” he added.

---------------------------------------------------

"The reason for this is that we must put our country’s interest first"

"The child on camera should be flawless in image, internal feeling and expression"

So to say, that the more pleasant things has got priority first?

If the original cannot perform as well, one must hide the truth and find the latter a clone that performs all-so-puurfect?

Or, China's government are rather judgemental by one's appearence???

Peiyi is just a 7 year old with couple of broken / unbudded tooth. Not like she's handicapped and deformed. Will this little girl with few minor flaws bring China and it's culture their downfall?

The above proves well of reality's harshness I think. The saying "Never judge a book by it's cover" is apparently invalid in this modern era.

Honestly, I daren't even think of how will our next few generations perceive the terminology of "beauty", if such teachings are spread across the world.

So people, I say next time we tell our younger generation, NO USE BEING INTELLIGENT OR SOME PRODIGY, JUST STAY ONE SIDE, ACT PRETTY, GO FOR PLASTIC SURGERY OR WHATSOEVER, AND NEVERTHELESS - BE A BIMBO. The country / nation / sky will drop you some real good opportunities.

XX vs DY saga

Tsk tsk tsk. Women and gossips - they are never apart! At least not too far apart... ;P

Likewise for the saga of XX and DY's. Simply juicy I should say. And here I am, spending a good few hours reading the older entries cuz they are way too enticing for me not to.

For those of you who seem oblivious to what's happening, you should probably throw your desktop away and live in stoneage.

For those of you who didn't know where to get those uber entertaining information, here you go: http://xxvsdy.blogspot.com.

Conclusion: aren't these 2 girls something? Look, they managed to arouse the attention of many in this small community of ours, even the media is alerted.

I wouldn't deem either party right or wrong. But if you ask me? I'll prefer to laugh at one who is straightforward and upfront bitchy than to like one who looked all-so-pretty yet malicious inside. Worst if mimic and plagiarism is concerned. Even worst if one is trying to impersonate another's identity. Creepy!

You get where I'm coming at, dunchu?

It's a girl's thing

Craves. Corsets. Critiques
