MDIS students protest strict dress code

Hmmm. Let's see what do we have here...

Via Stomp

A STOMPer says MDIS students are upset with the strict dress code enforced by the school, and the threat of barring students from entering the campus and even expulsion should they disobey.

(On the contrary, some student OUGHT TO BE EXPELLED. Seriously!)

Says the STOMPer: "They have stationed people from the management at gates of the school catching students who are in their university for not conforming to their set of dress code."

(Nope, never been through that)

MDIS students are going berserk and are really upset.

"What if we just wanna return a book to the library or we're wearing a pair of shorts because we want to go to the gym?"

"What if we simply want to have lunch in the canteen even though they have the most miserable canteen in MDIS? A personal friend of mine, also a student in MDIS told me that she got warned for not tying up her hair as she has pretty long hair."

(Never been through that either)

Another also told me that she got warned for wearing a tank top on a really hot day. "At university, they're alot of adults and why should we be told what to do so strictly? Don't we have freedom and that wee bit of choice?"

(Now I'm a little concerned. They rules were set eons back, but I wasn't warned anyway for wearing shorts and flip flops)

According to a circular from the campus management, these are things students should take note of with regard to their dressing and appearance:

(Let's see if I managed to break any of these golden rules)

1) Singlets, spaghetti-strap tops, shorts or tank tops - Checked.

2) Revealing attire, off-shoulder or low-cut tops, or tight/tube dresses (tube dresses can be worn with a cardigan) - Checked.

3) Mini skirts, short dresses (of more than 15 cm above knee) - Checked checked~

4) Facial piercings - Nose stud considered? If yes, then checked.

5) Visible Tattoos (to be covered at all times) - Oh miann! I haven't got any!

6) Flip flop slippers (unless justified by valid medical reasons) - Confirm guarantee plus checked.

7) Dyed hair except dark brown and red shades - Ok, my hair's black. But I got classmate who's got green hair. And whodahell wears red shades anyway? So passe.

Honestly? I think the rules are set in oppose to the full time students of MDIS. God, even my lecturers complained some of the day students dressed unbelievably. Tsk tsk tsk.
